Louisiana’s Attorney General, General Liz Murrill has issued a formal legal opinion stating that online businesses offering any sort of casino style games are operating illegally. The AG highlighted several aspects of sweepstakes casinos that led her to cite them as illegal, including purchasing gold coins and receiving free sweepstakes coins. These include ability to redeem prizes, customers vaping sweepstakes entries, and casino-like environment.

Virtual Gaming Words (VGW) to Stop Offering its Sweepstakes Casino Games in New Jersey
New VGW’s popular sweepstakes casinos like Chumba Casino LuckuLand Slots, and Global Poker won’t be available to users in New Jersey. This is because New Jersey is set to ban sweepstakes casinos before 14th August 2025 via the New Jersey legislature approved Assembly Bill A5447. Due to the ban, VGW’s casinos won’t offer sweep coins, but will continue to offer gold coins to the users for accessing the online casinos and play games.
